Adhyaya 72 — The Reconciliation Rite, Sarasvati Sacrifice, and the Birth of Uttama Manu (Auttama Manvantara Prelude)
तस्य दृष्ट्वा वपुः कान्तं भविष्यं शीलमेव च ।
औत्तमश्चेति मुनयो नाम चक्रुः समागताः ॥
tasya dṛṣṭvā vapuḥ kāntaṃ bhaviṣyaṃ śīlam eva ca | auttamaś ceti munayo nāma cakruḥ samāgatāḥ ||
Thấy dung mạo khả ái của chàng và cả phẩm tính tương lai, các hiền thánh tụ hội đã đặt cho chàng danh hiệu “Auttama”.
The sages’ naming implies that true status is recognized by discernment of character (śīla) and destiny, not merely by royal lineage.
