ततो दिशश्वानुदिशो विवृत्य शरै: सुधारैर्निशितै: सुपत्रै: । गाण्डीवघोषेण मनांसि तेषां महाबल: प्रव्यथयाज्चकार,फिर तो उन महाबलीने सुन्दर पंख और पैनी धारवाले बाणोंद्वारा सम्पूर्ण दिशाओं और दिक्कोणोंको आच्छादित करके गाण्डीव धनुषकी (भयंकर) टंकारसे कौरवयोद्धाओंके हृदयमें बड़ी व्यथा उत्पन्न कर दी
tato diśaś cānudiśo vivṛtya śaraiḥ sudhārair niśitaiḥ supatraiḥ | gāṇḍīvaghoṣeṇa manāṃsi teṣāṃ mahābalaḥ pravyathayāc cakāra ||
Rồi vị dũng sĩ ấy, sức mạnh phi thường, tung ra những mũi tên sắc bén, đầu nhọn, lông vũ chỉnh tề, phủ kín mọi phương và các hướng phụ. Tiếng dây cung Gāṇḍīva vang rền như sấm khiến lòng các chiến binh Kaurava rúng động, gieo nỗi kinh hãi và xao động, làm ý chí họ chao đảo giữa chiến trường.
