इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत विराटपर्वके अन्तर्गत गोहरणपर्वमें उत्तरगोग्रहके समय कर्णके आत्मप्रशंसापूर्ण वचनसम्बन्धी अड़तालीसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

Transliteration

iti prakāraṁ śrīmahābhārate virāṭaparvake antargata-goharaṇaparvaṇi uttaragograha-samaye karṇasya ātmapraśaṁsā-pūrṇa-vacana-sambandhī aṣṭacatvāriṁśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ

Translation

Như vậy kết thúc chương thứ bốn mươi tám của phần Goharaṇa thuộc Virāṭa Parva trong Śrī Mahābhārata, nói về lời lẽ tự tán dương của Karṇa được thốt ra vào lúc cuộc cướp đoạt đàn bò phương bắc. Lời kết (colophon) đặt khung cho đoạn này như một khoảnh khắc hùng biện võ công đầy khoe khoang, nêu bật cách kiêu mạn và ganh đua chi phối hành vi ngay trước thềm xung đột.
