Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 33 — Kuru Cattle-Raid and Matsya Mobilization (भूमिंजय-प्रेरणा)
स्थिता: समक्ष ते सर्वे त्वथ भीमो5भ्यभाषत
sthitāḥ samakṣa te sarve tv atha bhīmo 'bhyabhāṣata |
Khi tất cả đã đứng trước mặt nhà vua, Bhīma cất lời: “Tên Suśarmā tội lỗi ấy không đáng thoát khỏi tay ta mà còn sống; nhưng ta biết làm sao đây? Quân vương của chúng ta vốn luôn giàu lòng từ mẫn.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in a justified conflict, personal wrath is checked by dharma and the king’s compassionate policy; Bhīma’s impulse to punish is restrained by loyalty to righteous governance.
After the opponents are brought and stand before the king, Bhīma addresses the situation, expressing that Suśarmā deserves death for his wrongdoing, but acknowledges he cannot act freely because their king is consistently merciful.
