Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
तत एन॑ परिश्रान्तमुपलभ्य वृकोदर: । योक््त्रयामास बाहुभ्यां पशुं रशनया यथा,तदनन्तर उसे अत्यन्त थका जानकर भीमने अपनी भुजाओंमें इस प्रकार कस लिया, जैसे पशुको रस्सीसे बाँध दिया गया हो
tata enaṁ pariśrāntam upalabhya vṛkodaraḥ | yoktrayāmāsa bāhubhyāṁ paśuṁ raśanayā yathā ||
Bấy giờ Vṛkodara (Bhīma), thấy hắn đã kiệt sức đến cùng cực, liền dùng chính đôi tay mình chụp lấy và ghì trói thật chặt—như người ta buộc một con vật bằng dây thừng.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power is shown not only in striking but in restraining: Bhīma uses controlled force to immobilize a weakened adversary, prioritizing safety and preventing further wrongdoing.
Seeing the opponent utterly exhausted, Bhīma (Vṛkodara) grips and binds him with his arms, likened to tying an animal with a rope—an image emphasizing firm capture and complete control.
