Adhyāya 14: Sudēṣṇā Sends Sairandhrī to Kīcaka’s House (सुदेष्णा–सैरन्ध्री–कीचक संवादः)
अहो तवेयं परिचारिका शुभा प्रत्यग्ररूपा प्रतिभाति मामियम् | अयुक्तरूपं हि करोति कर्म ते प्रशास्तु मां यच्च ममास्ति किंचन
aho taveyaṁ paricārikā śubhā pratyagrarūpā pratibhāti mām iyam | ayuktarūpaṁ hi karoti karma te praśāstu māṁ yac ca mamāsti kiṁcana ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Ôi, thật đáng kinh ngạc! Người thiếu nữ xinh đẹp này lại đang hầu hạ trong nhà ngươi như một kẻ thị tỳ tầm thường. Với ta, nàng dường như luôn tươi mới trong nhan sắc, như vừa được hé lộ. Công việc nàng làm ở đây hoàn toàn không xứng với địa vị của nàng. Ta ước nàng trở thành chủ mẫu trong nhà ta, nắm quyền duy nhất đối với ta và đối với mọi tài sản ta có.”
