Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not add new instruction but frames the ethical setting: pilgrimage (tīrthayātrā) and exemplary sacred narratives (upākhyāna) are presented as means of purification, remembrance of dharmic models, and orientation toward right conduct through listening and reflection.

This line formally closes Adhyāya 96, identifying its placement: within the Mahābhārata’s Vana Parva, specifically the Tīrthayātrā Parva, in Lomāśa’s pilgrimage account, under the Agastya episode. It functions as an editorial/narrative boundary marker rather than spoken dialogue content.
