Educational Q&A

A revered, guarded teaching—identified in context as a sacred māhātmya—purifies moral impurity: learning and ritually reciting it in a proper religious setting is presented as a means to remove sin and gain heavenly attainment.

Pulastya concludes or emphasizes the efficacy of the sacred account he has been teaching: he characterizes it as a rishi-secret that destroys sin, and states the fruit (phala) of studying and reciting it among the twice-born—purity and attainment of Svarga.
