Āraṇyaka-parva Adhyāya 44 — Arjuna’s Entry into Nandana and Audience with Indra
एवं सम्पूजितो जिष्णुरुवास भवने पितु: । उपशि क्षन् महास्त्राणि ससंहाराणि पाण्डव:,इस प्रकार देवसमुदायसे पूजित हो पाण्डुकुमार अर्जुन अपने पिताके घरमें रहने और उनसे उपसंहारसहित महान् अस्त्रोंकी शिक्षा ग्रहण करने लगे
evaṁ sampūjito jiṣṇur uvāsa bhavane pituḥ | upaśikṣan mahāstrāṇi sasaṁhārāṇi pāṇḍavaḥ ||
Được hội chúng chư thiên tôn vinh như thế, Arjuna—Pāṇḍava mang danh Jiṣṇu—ở lại trong cung thất của phụ vương. Tại đó, chàng chuyên cần học các đại thần khí, cùng cả phép thu hồi và chế ngự chúng.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that genuine competence—especially in destructive power—requires restraint: learning not only how to deploy great weapons but also how to withdraw and control them, aligning strength with dharma.
After being honored by the gods, Arjuna stays in his father’s residence (Indra’s realm) and undergoes instruction in powerful celestial weapons, explicitly including their ‘saṁhāra’—the procedures for recalling or neutralizing them.
