भैक्ष्यचर्या न विहिता न च विट्शूद्रजीविका । क्षत्रियस्य विशेषेण धर्मस्तु बलमौरसम्‌,'क्षत्रियके लिये न तो भीख माँगनेका विधान है और न वैश्य और शूद्रकी जीविका करनेका ही। उसके लिये तो बल और उत्साह ही विशेष धर्म हैं

bhaikṣyacaryā na vihitā na ca viṭśūdra-jīvikā | kṣatriyasya viśeṣeṇa dharmas tu balam aurasam ||

Vaiśampāyana nói: “Đối với một kṣatriya, không có phép sống bằng khất thực, cũng không được mưu sinh theo nghề nghiệp thuộc về vaiśya hay śūdra. Với người ấy, đặc biệt, dharma riêng của mình chính là sức mạnh bẩm sinh và khí phách hăng hái.”
