युधिछिर उवाच सन्‍्तो दिग्‌ जलमाकाशं गौरन्न प्रार्थना विषम्‌ | श्राद्धस्य ब्राह्मण: काल: कथं वा यक्ष मन्यसे

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca—santo diśo jalam ākāśaṁ gaur annaṁ prārthanā viṣam | śrāddhasya brāhmaṇaḥ kālaḥ kathaṁ vā yakṣa manyase ||

Yudhiṣṭhira đáp: “Người hiền đức mới là ‘phương hướng’ chân thật; bầu trời là nước; mặt đất là thức ăn; lòng ham muốn (sự cầu xin vì tư lợi) là độc. Còn đối với lễ śrāddha, chính vị Bà-la-môn là ‘thời điểm’—là duyên quyết định. Hỡi Yakṣa, ngươi hiểu điều ấy thế nào?”
