युधिछिर उवाच सार्थ: प्रवसतो मित्र भार्या मित्र गृहे सतः । आतुरस्य भिषड्मित्र दानं मित्र मरिष्यत:

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | sārthaḥ pravasato mitraṁ bhāryā mitraṁ gṛhe sataḥ | āturasya bhiṣag mitraṁ dānaṁ mitraṁ mariṣyataḥ ||

Yudhiṣṭhira nói: Với kẻ lữ hành nơi đất khách, bạn hữu là đoàn lữ hành và những người đồng hành; với người ở nhà, người vợ là bạn; với kẻ bệnh tật, thầy thuốc là bạn; và với người sắp lìa đời, người bạn chân thật chính là bố thí—món tặng công đức nâng đỡ họ vượt khỏi đời này.
