पिटारीमें सोया हुआ वह बालक गंगाकी लहरोंसे बहाया जाता हुआ चम्पापुरीके पास सूतराज्यमें जा पहुँचा ।। अमृतादुत्थितं दिव्यं तनुवर्म सकुण्डलम्‌ । धारयामास तं गर्भ दैवं च विधिनिर्मितम्‌,उसके शरीरका दिव्य कवच और कानोंके कुण्डल--ये अमृतसे प्रकट हुए थे। वे ही विधाताद्वारा रचित उस देवकुमारको जीवित रख रहे थे

Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: Piṭāryāṃ śayānaḥ sa bālako Gaṅgā-laharībhiḥ vahyamānaḥ Campāpurī-samīpe sūtarājye gatavān. Amṛtād utthitaṃ divyaṃ tanuvarma sakuṇḍalam; dhārayām āsa taṃ garbhaṃ daivaṃ ca vidhinirmitaṃ.

Vaiśampāyana nói: Đứa trẻ nằm trong chiếc rương nhỏ, bị sóng Gaṅgā cuốn trôi, đã đến gần Campāpurī, vào cõi của vua Sūta. Từ cam lộ hiện ra một giáp trụ thần diệu trên thân và đôi khuyên tai nơi tai; chính những sự hộ trì từ trời—do định mệnh tạo tác—đã nâng đỡ đứa con được an bài ấy, từ khi còn trong bụng mẹ cho đến về sau, báo hiệu rằng mạng sống của nó được gìn giữ để dẫn tới một cuộc triển khai đạo lý lớn lao.
