अङ्गददूतवाक्यं लङ्काप्राकारभेदनं च

सा काड्क्षमाणा भर्तृणामुपयातमनिन्दिता । विलोभयामास पर वाक्यैर्वाक्यानि युड्जती,पतिव्रता द्रौपदी चाहती थी कि मेरे पति अभी यहाँ आ जायँ। अत: वह जयद्रथसे वाद- विवाद करती हुई उसे बातोंमें फँसाये रखनेकी चेष्टा करने लगी

sā kāṅkṣamāṇā bhartṝṇām upayātam aninditā | vilobhayāmāsa para-vākyair vākyāni yuñjatī ||

Draupadī, người không tì vết và là người vợ thủy trinh, mong các phu quân mình sớm đến. Vì thế nàng vừa tranh biện với kẻ kia, vừa nối lời đáp lời, dùng lời lẽ khéo léo để giữ hắn sa vào cuộc đối thoại—cốt kéo dài thời gian mà giam chân hắn lại.
