सत्यभामया द्रौपद्याश्वासनम्
Satyabhāmā’s Consolation of Draupadī
kirīṭinaṃ gadāpāṇiṃ dhātumantam ivācalaṃ | haste gṛhītvā kanyāṃ tām athainaṃ vāsavo 'bravīt ||
Hắn đội mũ miện trên đầu; tay cầm chùy, lại nắm tay thiếu nữ ấy, trông như ngọn núi bất động rực sáng bởi muôn thứ quặng. Thấy vậy, Vāsava (Indra) liền cất lời với hắn—
युधिषछ्िर उवाच
The verse frames a moment where outward power and royal splendor (diadem, mace, mountain-like presence) are immediately subjected to divine moral attention: Indra’s forthcoming words imply that strength must be guided by dharma, especially regarding how one treats and claims responsibility for a maiden.
A crowned warrior, holding a mace and taking a maiden by the hand, is seen by Indra. Struck by the scene, Indra addresses him, signaling an impending dialogue about the situation and its rightness.
