Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father
The verse underscores the overwhelming force that can arise in righteous struggle: when opposition aligns with destructive or unrighteous intent, a divinely-backed power is portrayed as capable of total neutralization—symbolically ‘reducing to ashes’ forces that threaten order.
Vāyu is describing the extraordinary destructive capacity present in a battle context—so great that it could annihilate various non-human adversarial classes (Yakṣas, Rākṣasas, Dānavas) as well as opposing kings.
