चिन्तयामास च मनुस्तं मत्स्यं पृथिवीपते । सच तच्चिन्तितं ज्ञात्वा मत्स्य: परपुरंजय,शत्रुनगरविजयी नरेश्वर! तदनन्तर मनुने भगवान् मत्स्यका चिन्तन किया। यह जानकर शृंंगधारी भगवान् मत्स्य वहाँ शीघ्र आ पहुँचे। नरश्रेष्ठ भरतकुलशिरोमणे! समुद्रमें अपने पूर्वकथित रूपसे ऊँचे पर्वतकी भाँति शृंगंधारी मत्स्य भगवानको आया देख उनके मस्तकवर्ती सींगमें उन्होंने बँटी हुई रस्सी बाँध दी
cintayāmāsa ca manus taṁ matsyaṁ pṛthivīpate | sa ca tac-cintitaṁ jñātvā matsyaḥ parapuraṁjaya śatrunagaravijayī nareśvara | tad-anantaraṁ manunā bhagavān matsyakaḥ cintitaḥ | etad jñātvā śṛṅgadhārī bhagavān matsyo tatra śīghram ājagāma | naraśreṣṭha bharatakulaśiromaṇe | samudre pūrvoktarūpeṇa ūrdhvaḥ parvatavad dṛśyamānaṁ śṛṅgadhāriṇaṁ matsyabhagavantaṁ dṛṣṭvā tasya mastakavartiśṛṅge manunā bhaṇḍikāyuktā rajjuḥ baddhā |
Mārkaṇḍeya nói: “Hỡi chúa tể cõi đất, Manu bắt đầu chuyên tâm tưởng niệm con Cá ấy. Biết rõ điều Manu vừa khởi lên trong tâm, con Cá—kẻ chinh phục các thành trì của địch, hỡi đức vua—liền mau chóng hiện đến. Khi Manu thấy thần Cá có sừng trồi lên giữa biển đúng như hình dạng đã được nói trước, cao sừng sững như một ngọn núi, ông bèn buộc một sợi dây có nút thắt chắc chắn vào chiếc sừng trên đầu Cá.”
