Display of Divine Weapons and Its Prohibition
सा तु मायामयी वृष्टि: पीडयामास मां युधि । अथ घोर तमस्तीव्रं प्रादुरासीत् समन््ततः,उस मायामयी वष्नि युद्धमें मुझे बड़ी पीड़ा दी। तदनन्तर चारों ओर महाभयानक अन्धकार छा गया
sā tu māyāmayī vṛṣṭiḥ pīḍayāmāsa māṃ yudhi | atha ghoraṃ tamas tīvraṃ prādurāsīt samantataḥ ||
Arjuna nói: “Trận mưa huyễn ấy đã hành hạ ta giữa chiến địa. Rồi ngay sau đó, khắp bốn phương bỗng hiện ra một màn tối dày đặc, ghê rợn.”
अजुन उवाच
The verse underscores that in conflict, deception and psychological overwhelm (māyā and tamas) can be as damaging as physical weapons; ethical steadiness requires clarity of mind and discernment amid fear-inducing conditions.
Arjuna reports that a magically produced rain caused him great distress during battle, and immediately afterward an intense, terrifying darkness spread everywhere, suggesting an opponent’s use of illusion to disrupt and disorient.
