श्येन उवाच
As a colophon, the line itself does not teach a new doctrine; it marks the completion of an illustrative ethical tale (upākhyāna) embedded in the pilgrimage narrative. The framing emphasizes that dharma is explored through exemplars and tested conduct, presented as memorable stories within a larger sacred-journey context.
The text is concluding the 131st chapter of the Śyenakapotīya episode, situated within Lomāśa’s pilgrimage account in the Tīrthayātrā section of the Vana Parva. It functions as an editorial/narrative closure indicating that this embedded story segment has ended.
