Kirmīra-rākṣasa-saṃgamaḥ (Encounter and Slaying of Kirmīra) | किर्मीरेण सह भीमसेनसमागमः
ये मां विप्रकृतां क्षुद्रैरुपेक्षध्व॑ं विशोकवत् | नच मे शाम्यते दुःखं कर्णो यत् प्राहसत् तदा,“क्योंकि आप सब लोग, नीच मनुष्योंद्वारा जो मेरा अपमान हुआ था, उसकी उपेक्षा कर रहे हैं, मानो इसके लिये आपके हृदयमें तनिक भी दुःख नहीं है। उस समय कर्णने जो मेरी हँसी उड़ायी थी, उससे उत्पन्न हुआ दुःख मेरे हृदयसे दूर नहीं होता है
ye māṁ viprakṛtāṁ kṣudrair upekṣadhvaṁ viśokavat | na ca me śāmyate duḥkhaṁ karṇo yat prāhasat tadā ||
Nữ rākṣasī nói: “Các người đều làm ngơ trước nỗi nhục mà bọn tiểu nhân đã giáng lên ta, như thể lòng các người chẳng hề đau xót. Và nỗi đau trong ta vẫn không nguôi—bởi khi ấy Karṇa đã chế nhạo ta.”
राक्षस उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of contempt and mockery: public ridicule can leave lasting wounds, and indifference to another’s humiliation is itself a moral failure. It implicitly urges empathy and responsible speech, since harm done by words and social scorn may not easily be healed.
A rākṣasa complains that others are treating his earlier humiliation as insignificant. He says his grief has not diminished because Karṇa once laughed at him, and he presents this unresolved pain as a grievance against those who dismiss the insult.
