सगरोपाख्यानम् — कपिलकोपः, अंशुमतः विनयः, तथा भगीरथपरम्परा

एतदिच्छाम्यहं श्रोतुं विस्तरेण तपोधन । कथ्यमानं त्वया विप्र राज्ञां चरितमुत्तमम्,तपोधन! विप्रवर! मैं यह प्रसंग, जिसमें राजाओंके उत्तम चरित्रका वर्णन है, आपके मुखसे विस्तारपूर्वक सुनना चाहता हूँ
etad icchāmy ahaṃ śrotuṃ vistareṇa tapodhana | kathyamānaṃ tvayā vipra rājñāṃ caritam uttamam ||
Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Bạch bậc tích tụ khổ hạnh, con muốn được nghe trọn vẹn, tường tận chuyện ấy. Hỡi vị Bà-la-môn tối thượng, khi ngài thuật lại, xin kể cho con những công hạnh xuất chúng và đức hạnh cao quý của các bậc quân vương.”
