Surabhi–Indra Dialogue as a Governance Exemplar

एष दुर्योधन पुत्रं तव राजन्‌ महानृषि: । अनुशास्ता यथान्यायं शमायास्य कुलस्य च,महाराज! ये महर्षि ही इस कुलकी शान्तिके लिये तुम्हारे पुत्र दुर्योधनको यथायोग्य शिक्षा देंगे

eṣa duryodhana putraṁ tava rājan mahānṛṣiḥ | anuśāstā yathānyāyaṁ śamāyāsya kulasya ca mahārāja |

“Tâu Đại vương, đây là một bậc đại hiền. Vì sự an hòa của dòng tộc này, ngài sẽ dạy dỗ Duryodhana, con trai của bệ hạ, đúng theo lẽ phải và điều hợp đạo.”

Educational Q&A

That rightful, disciplined instruction (yathā-nyāyam anuśāsana) is necessary to restore peace in a family and polity; a king should accept wise counsel aimed at reconciliation rather than escalation.
