Vidura’s Counsel to Krishna on the Limits of Peace

Educational Q&A

A person ruled by desire and anger loses clarity (moha) and turns against virtue itself; such passion-driven hostility toward the good is condemned as the lowest human conduct.

Vaiśampāyana delivers a moral characterization: he identifies the type of person who, under the sway of kāma and krodha, seeks conflict with a guṇavant (a worthy person), marking this as a sign of ethical degradation—an apt warning in the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war counsel and negotiations.
