अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)
दुर्योधन उवाच सत्यवाग् भव कल्याण वरो वै मम दीयताम् | सर्वसेनाप्रणेता वै भवान् भवितुमहति,दुर्योधनने कहा--कल्याणस्वरूप महानुभाव! आपकी बात सत्य हो। आप मुझे अवश्य वर दीजिये। मैं चाहता हूँ कि आप मेरी सम्पूर्ण सेनाके अधिनायक हो जायेँ
duryodhana uvāca satyavāg bhava kalyāṇa varo vai mama dīyatām | sarvasenāpraṇetā vai bhavān bhavitum arhati ||
Duryodhana nói: “Ôi bậc cao quý, điềm lành! Xin lời ngài trở thành sự thật. Xin ban cho ta ân huệ này: chính ngài xứng đáng làm tổng chỉ huy, người dẫn dắt toàn quân của ta.”
