उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय 33: धृतराष्ट्र-विदुर संवादः (विदुरनीतिः)
वनस्पतेरपक्वानि फलानि प्रचिनोति यः । स नाप्रोति रसं तेभ्यो बीजं चास्य विनश्यति,जो पेड़से कच्चे फलोंको तोड़ता है, वह उन फलोंसे रस तो पाता नहीं, परंतु उस वृक्षके बीजका नाश हो जाता है
vanaspater apakvāni phalāni pracinoti yaḥ | sa nāpnoti rasaṁ tebhyo bījaṁ cāsya vinaśyati ||
Vidura nói: “Ai hái những trái còn xanh thì chẳng được hưởng vị ngọt chân thật; trái lại còn làm hại chính nguồn gốc—hạt giống bị hủy hoại. Cũng vậy, hành động vội vàng vì tham trước thời điểm không đem lợi ích thực, mà còn phá mất phúc lộc về sau.”
