अध्याय २९ — वासुदेव–संजय संवादः

Karma, Varṇa-Dharma, and the Ethics of Governance

ये चैवान्ये कुरुमुख्या युवान: पुत्रा: पौत्रा भ्रातरश्वैव ये नः । यं यमेषां मन्यसे येन योग्यं तत्‌ तत्‌ प्रोच्यानामयं सूत वाच्या:

ye caivānye kurumukhyā yuvānaḥ putrāḥ pautrā bhrātaraś caiva ye naḥ | yaṃ yam eṣāṃ manyase yena yogyaṃ tat tat procya nāmayaṃ sūta vācyāḥ ||

Yudhiṣṭhira nói: “Còn những thanh niên ưu tú khác của dòng Kuru nữa—những người là con, cháu và anh em của chúng ta—ai trong số họ mà ngươi thấy cần được xưng hô theo cách nào cho hợp, hãy nói với người ấy đúng như vậy. Hỡi Sūta, hãy báo cho tất cả biết rằng các Pāṇḍava đều bình an và lòng đầy hoan hỷ.”

Educational Q&A

Appropriate speech (yathā-yogya) is an ethical duty: even amid political tension, one should address each person according to relationship and propriety, and communicate goodwill and well-being rather than provocation.

Yudhiṣṭhira instructs the messenger to inform the leading young Kurus—who are also close relatives of the Pāṇḍavas—each in a manner suited to him, and to convey that the Pāṇḍavas are safe and content, maintaining a diplomatic and familial tone.
