Educational Q&A

The verse upholds satya (truthfulness) and pratijñā (a solemn vow) as binding moral forces: a noble person’s spoken word is treated as an ethical commitment that must come to fruition.

Bhishma addresses Rama (Paraśurāma), affirming that Rama’s statement and earlier pledge will be fulfilled—reinforcing the seriousness of vows and the inevitability of their moral consequence within the epic’s unfolding events.
