Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the Kṣatriya ideal of courage and effective action: a capable leader, supported by his lineage (his son), is expected to undertake and complete great martial responsibilities, reinforcing the ethic of duty and steadfastness in a time of conflict.

Bhīṣma is describing and commending a particular ally—the heroic king of Cedi—saying that he will arrive with his son and perform a significant feat in the coming war, even against formidable mahāratha warriors.
