भीष्म–दुर्योधनसंवादः — शिखण्डिनं न हन्तुं कारणकथनम्
Amba-ākhyāna prologue
एष योत्स्यति संग्रामे नाशयन् पूर्वसंस्थितम् । परं यशो विप्रथयंस्तव सेनासु भारत,भारत! वह तुम्हारी सेनामें प्रवेश करके अपने पूर्व अपयशका नाश तथा उत्तम सुयशका विस्तार करता हुआ बड़े उत्साहसे युद्ध करेगा
eṣa yotsyati saṅgrāme nāśayan pūrvasaṃsthitam | paraṃ yaśo viprathayaṃs tava senāsu bhārata bhārata ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Người này sẽ chiến đấu với nhiệt huyết lớn. Hỡi Bhārata, khi xông vào quân ngươi, người ấy sẽ rửa sạch nỗi nhục đã bám rễ từ trước và làm rạng danh tiếng tột bậc của mình.”
