Educational Q&A

Karṇa highlights that performing a child’s saṁskāras according to śāstra is a profound act of parental responsibility; such care creates a binding moral claim of gratitude and loyalty, shaping one’s sense of duty even in times of political and martial crisis.

Karṇa addresses Kṛṣṇa (as Mādhava/Janārdana) and recalls how ‘he’—Karṇa’s foster-father—arranged Karṇa’s birth-rites and other sacraments in the proper scriptural manner, motivated by love for him as a son. Karṇa uses this remembrance to justify his steadfast allegiance.
