खरीवात्सल्यमाहुस्तन्नि:सामर्थ्यमहेतुकम् । सद्धिविगर्हितं मार्ग त्यज मूर्खनिषेवितम्
kharīvātsalyam āhus tan niḥsāmarthyam ahetukam | sad dhi vigarhitaṃ mārgaṃ tyaja mūrkha-niṣevitam ||
“Người ta gọi đó là ‘tình thương kiểu lừa’—một sự yếu mềm vô cớ sinh từ bất lực. Vậy nên hãy từ bỏ con đường đáng chê trách ấy, lối đi mà kẻ ngu thường lui tới.”
पुत्र उवाच
Affection that is irrational and rooted in weakness—indulgence without discernment—is ethically censured; one should abandon such a foolish course and choose a dharmic, well-reasoned path.
In a counsel-like exchange (marked by “the son said”), the speaker rebukes misplaced softness and urges the listener to give up a condemned, foolishly followed line of conduct, emphasizing discernment over sentimental weakness.
