मातोवाच पुत्र नात्मावमन्तव्य: पूर्वाभिरसमृद्धिभि: । अभूत्वा हि भवन्त्यर्था भूत्वा नश्यन्ति चापरे । अमर्षेणैव चाप्यर्था नारब्धव्या: सुबालिशै:
mātovāca putra nātmāvamantavyaḥ pūrvābhir asamṛddhibhiḥ | abhūtvā hi bhavanty arthā bhūtvā naśyanti cāpare | amarṣeṇaiva cāpy arthā nārabdhavyāḥ subāliśaiḥ |
Người mẹ nói: “Con ơi, chớ khinh rẻ chính mình vì trước kia thiếu thốn phú quý. Của cải và thành đạt ở đời có thể phát sinh dù trước đó chưa có, và khi đã phát sinh rồi lại có thể tiêu tan. Vì vậy, kẻ ngu không nên khởi sự mưu cầu tài lợi chỉ vì lòng hằn học và đố kỵ.”
