तथा विराटनगरे श्रूयते महदद्भुतम् । एकस्य च बहूनां च पर्याप्त तन्निदर्शनम्,“इसके सिवा विराटनगरमें जो बहुत-से महारथी योद्धाओंके साथ एक अर्जुनके युद्धकी अत्यन्त अद्भुत घटना सुनी जाती है, वह एक ही युद्धके भावी परिणामको बतानेके लिये पर्याप्त है
tathā virāṭanagare śrūyate mahad adbhutam | ekasya ca bahūnāṃ ca paryāptaṃ tan nidarśanam ||
Cũng vậy, tại thành Virāṭa người ta còn truyền tụng một sự kiện lớn lao kỳ diệu: chuyện một chiến sĩ đơn độc đối đầu với nhiều dũng tướng. Chỉ riêng tấm gương ấy cũng đủ để báo trước kết cục của một trận chiến về sau.
