Adhyāya 12: Devas’ Petition to Nahūṣa; Bṛhaspati on Śaraṇāgata-Dharma; Indrāṇī’s Strategic Delay

एवमेतद्‌ द्विजश्रेष्ठ देवी चेयं प्रसाद्यताम्‌ ततः: समस्ता इन्द्राणीं देवाश्चाग्निपुरोगमा: । ऊचुर्वचनमव्यग्रा लोकानां हितकाम्यया,'द्विजश्रेष्ठ] इसी बातके लिये शची देवीको राजी कीजिये।” तदनन्तर अग्नि आदि सब देवता इन्द्राणीके पास जा समस्त लोकोंके हितके लिये शान्तभावसे इस प्रकार बोले

evam etad dvijaśreṣṭha devī ceyaṁ prasādyatām tataḥ samastā indrāṇīṁ devāś cāgnipurogamāḥ | ūcur vacanam avyagrā lokānāṁ hitakāmyayā ||

“Đúng vậy, hỡi bậc tối thượng trong hàng Bà-la-môn. Hãy làm cho vị nữ thần này nguôi lòng.” Rồi tất thảy chư thiên—Agni dẫn đầu—đến gần Indrāṇī; vì mưu cầu phúc lợi cho mọi cõi, họ với tâm bình thản, không xao động, nói với nàng như sau.
