Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama

वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! तत्पश्चात्‌ भगवान्‌ विष्णुने लोकेश्वर इन्द्रसे कहा --'देवराज! तुम सुमुखको अमृत दे दो और इसे देवताओंके समान बना दो ।। मातलिननरिदश्वैव सुमुखश्वैव वासव । लभन्तां भवत: कामात्‌ काममेत॑ यथेप्सितम्‌,“वासव! इस प्रकार मातलि, नारद और सुमुख--ये सभी तुमसे इच्छानुसार अमृतका दान पाकर अपना यह अभीष्ट मनोरथ पूर्ण कर लें!

vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca—janamejaya! tataḥ paścāt bhagavān viṣṇur lokeśvaram indram uvāca—“devarāja! tvaṃ sumukhaṃ amṛtaṃ dehi, enaṃ ca devatulyam kuru. mātali-nārada-sumukhāś caiva, vāsava, bhavataḥ kāmāt yathā-īpsitaṃ kāmaṃ labhantām; amṛtadānena teṣāṃ manorathaḥ paripūryatām.”

Vaiśaṃpāyana nói: “Hỡi Janamejaya! Sau đó, đấng Viṣṇu cát tường đã phán với Indra, chúa tể các thế giới: ‘Hỡi Thiên vương! Hãy ban cho Sumukha cam lộ bất tử và khiến chàng ngang hàng với chư thiên. Và này Vāsava! Xin cho Mātali, Nārada và Sumukha—mỗi người theo đúng sở nguyện—được nhận từ ngươi ân huệ mong cầu, nhờ sự ban tặng amṛta mà thành tựu điều họ tìm kiếm.’”
