Udyoga-parva 10
बाढमित्येव ऋषयस्तमूचुर्भरतर्षभ । एवंवत्ते तु संधाने वृत्र: प्रमुदितो5भवत्,भरतश्रेष्ठ] तब ऋषियोंने उससे “बहुत अच्छा" कहा। इस प्रकार संधि हो जानेपर वृत्रासुरको बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई
bāḍham ity eva ṛṣayas tam ūcur bharatarṣabha | evaṃvat te tu saṃdhāne vṛtraḥ pramudito 'bhavat ||
Các hiền triết nói với chàng: “Được lắm—cứ như vậy,” hỡi bậc hùng dũng của dòng Bharata. Khi giao ước đã được kết lập như thế, Vṛtra vô cùng hoan hỷ.
शल्य उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical force of saṃdhāna (reconciliation): when an agreement is endorsed by wise and impartial authorities (ṛṣis), it gains legitimacy and can pacify even a fierce adversary, showing the dharmic value of counsel, consent, and orderly settlement.
Śalya reports that the sages responded with firm approval—“bāḍham” (“very well”)—to what had been proposed, and that once the pact was concluded, Vṛtra (Vṛtrāsura) became very pleased, indicating that the negotiation reached a mutually accepted settlement.
