भारतं परम पुण्यं भारते विविधा: कथा: । भारतं सेव्यते देवैर्भारतं परमं पदम्,महाभारत परम पवित्र ग्रन्थ है। इसमें नाना प्रकारकी कथाएँ हैं। देवता भी महाभारतका सेवन करते हैं। महाभारत परमपदस्वरूप है
bhārataṃ parama-puṇyaṃ bhārate vividhāḥ kathāḥ | bhārataṃ sevyate devair bhārataṃ paramaṃ padam ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Bhārata là bậc tối thượng về công đức. Trong Bhārata có muôn vàn truyện tích. Ngay cả chư thiên cũng thọ hưởng và trân quý Bhārata. Chính Bhārata là mục tiêu tối cao—một hiện thân của cảnh giới tối thượng.”
