तदर्धेनापि दातव्या दरिद्रेणापि पार्थिव
tadardhenāpi dātavyā daridreṇāpi pārthiva | pṛthvīnātha! yadi śrotā daridro bhavet tadā tasmai’pi ardhadakṣiṇayā saha godānaṃ niyataṃ kartavyam | pratyekaṃ parvasamāptau vidvān puruṣaḥ suvarṇasahitaṃ pustakaṃ vācakāya samarpayet ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana nói: “Muôn tâu Đại vương, bậc chúa tể cõi đất! Dẫu là người nghèo cũng nên làm lễ bố thí—nếu không đủ thì chỉ cần nửa khoản thù lao thường lệ. Nếu người nghe nghèo khó, vẫn nhất định phải làm lễ hiến tặng một con bò (godāna), kèm theo khoản tặng phí đã giảm. Khi kết thúc mỗi parvan, bậc học giả nên trao lại quyển sách được tụng đọc cho người đọc tụng, cùng với vàng.”
