Educational Q&A

A ruler who consistently acts in ways that make him beloved through genuine virtues (guṇas) gains success in his undertakings, and prosperity remains with him; ethical character is presented as the foundation of effective rule and lasting wealth.

In Śānti Parva’s instruction on rājadharma, the sage Vāmadeva addresses principles of kingship, stating that a king who wins people’s affection through virtue naturally achieves success and retains fortune.
