Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order

Educational Q&A

When dharma prevails, nature itself becomes supportive: abundance arises without exploitation, and even medicines are inherently potent. The verse links moral order with ecological and social flourishing.

In Bhishma’s instruction in the Shanti Parva, he describes an ideal age/condition of the world where suffering and scarcity are absent, illustrating the fruits of righteousness through images of effortless harvest and self-arising healing plants.
