Brāhmaṇa-Dharma, Āśrama Eligibility, and the Primacy of Rāja-Dharma (Śānti Parva 63)

अन्तवन्ति प्रधानानि पुरा श्रेयस्कराणि च । स्वकर्मनिरतो लोके हा॒क्षर: सर्वतोमुख:

Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca — Antavanti pradhānāni purā śreyaskarāṇi ca | svakarmanirato loke hy akṣaraḥ sarvatomukhaḥ ||

Yudhiṣṭhira nói: “Những yếu tố chủ yếu từng đem lại phúc lợi rồi cũng đến hồi chấm dứt. Nhưng người ở đời này chuyên tâm thực hành bổn phận được quy định cho mình—đúng theo varṇa và āśrama—thì trong mọi cảnh ngộ vẫn là đấng bất hoại: hiện diện khắp bốn phương, hướng mặt về mọi nẻo.”
