Chapter 57: Constant Royal Vigilance, Primacy of Protection, and Principles of Dismissal
अभृतानां भवेद् भर्ता भूतानामन्ववेक्षक: । नृपति: सुमुखश्न स्यात् स्मितपूर्वाभिभाषिता
abhṛtānāṁ bhaved bhartā bhūtānām anvavekṣakaḥ | nṛpatiḥ sumukhaś ca syāt smitapūrvābhibhāṣitā ||
Bhishma nói: Vua phải làm chỗ nương tựa cho những người không ai nuôi dưỡng, và phải chăm xét kỹ lưỡng phúc lợi của mọi sinh linh sống dưới sự che chở của mình. Bậc quân vương nên luôn giữ gương mặt hòa nhã và mở lời trước với nụ cười dịu—để người dân cảm nhận việc trị vì là sự chăm nom, chứ không phải nỗi sợ.
