Bhīṣma on the Śara-Śayyā: Yudhiṣṭhira and Kṛṣṇa Approach the Eldest for Śānti
ऋते शान्तनवाद् भीष्मात् त्रिषु लोकेषु पार्थिव । सत्यधर्मान्महावीर्याच्छूराद् धर्मेकतत्परात्
ṛte śāntanavād bhīṣmāt triṣu lokeṣu pārthiva | satyadharmān mahāvīryāc chūrād dharmaikatatparāt ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Tâu đại vương, trong ba cõi, ta chưa từng nghe có ai khác ngoài Bhīṣma, con của Śāntanu—bậc chân thật và chính trực, anh hùng đại lực, chiến sĩ dũng mãnh một lòng tận tụy với dharma—đã nhờ sức khổ hạnh và lời thệ nguyện mà ngăn lại cái chết tự nhiên vốn đến với thân xác.”
