इन्द्रके पूछनेपर द्विजश्रेष्ठ नारदने उन्हें जैसे और जिस ढंगसे वह कथा कही थी, वैसे ही मैं भी कहूँगा। तुम भी मेरी कही हुई उस कथाको ध्यान देकर सुनो ।।
indra-ke pṛcchane para dvijaśreṣṭha-nāradena tebhyaḥ yathā ca yena ḍhaṅgena sā kathā kathitā āsīt, tathā eva aham api vakṣyāmi | tvam api mayā uktāṃ tāṃ kathāṃ dhyānaṃ dattvā śṛṇu || iti śrīmahābhārate śāntiparvaṇi mokṣadharmaparvaṇi ucchavṛttyupākhyāne dvipañcāśad-adhika-triśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Khi Indra hỏi, Nārada—bậc tối thượng trong hàng Bà-la-môn—đã kể câu chuyện ấy cho ngài đúng như sự việc đã xảy ra và đúng theo lối đã thuật. Cũng như thế, ta sẽ thuật lại. Ngươi hãy chuyên tâm lắng nghe câu chuyện ta nói.”
