Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel (अतिथिसत्कारः प्रज्ञानवचनस्य च पराश्वासनम्)
स्तुत्वा मां शिपिविष्ठेति यास्क ऋषिरुदार धी: । मत्प्रसादादधो नष्ट निरुक्तमभिजग्मिवान्
stutvā māṃ śipiviṣṭheti yāska ṛṣir udāradhīḥ | matprasādād adho naṣṭaṃ niruktam abhijagmivān ||
Yāska, bậc hiền triết tâm hồn cao quý, đã tán dương ta bằng danh xưng “Śipiviṣṭa”. Nhờ ân sủng của ta, ông đã tìm lại được Nirukta—môn thánh học từng thất lạc nơi cõi hạ giới—và đem khoa học thiêng liêng ấy trở về.
तामिन्द्र उवाच गच्छ नहुषस्त्वया वाच्योथ<पूर्वेण मामृषियुक्तेन यानेन त्वमधिरूढ
Reverent praise offered with sincerity and right intention can attract divine favor, and that grace can restore what is lost—especially sacred knowledge—so it may benefit the world.
Indra recalls an example: the sage Yāska praised him as “Śipiviṣṭa,” and through Indra’s favor Yāska recovered the Nirukta-śāstra that had been lost in the lower regions (pātāla) and brought it back.
