धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)
सुरकार्ये हनिष्यामि यज्ञघ्नं दितिनन्दनम् | तदनन्तर देवताओंके कार्यके लिये नरसिंहरूप धारण करके यज्ञनाशक दितिनन्दन हिरण्यकशिपुका संहार कर डालूँगा
surakārye haniṣyāmi yajñaghnaṃ ditinandanaṃ | tadanantaraṃ devatānāṃ kāryārthaṃ nara-siṃha-rūpaṃ dhārayitvā yajña-nāśakaṃ ditinandanaṃ hiraṇyakaśipuṃ saṃhariṣyāmi ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Vì lợi ích của chư thiên, ta sẽ giết kẻ phá hoại tế lễ, con của Diti. Sau đó, để hoàn thành đại sự của chư thiên, ta sẽ mang hình Narasiṃha mà diệt Hiraṇyakaśipu—con của Diti—kẻ gieo tai họa cho yajña.”
