Bhīṣma nói: Khi đã vững lập trong Veda và tinh thông cả các bộ môn phụ trợ, những đệ tử khổ hạnh ấy bèn đến gần Vyāsa. Tâm đã an tịnh, các căn đã điều phục, họ tụ hội quanh bậc thầy; chắp tay cung kính mà thưa—cầu xin lời chỉ dạy đặt nền trên thánh học và hạnh kỷ luật.
