Educational Q&A

The verse upholds the dharmic ideal that sacred knowledge is preserved through disciplined instruction: a capable teacher (Vyasa) trains disciples and even his own son, while living a restrained, austere life conducive to learning and spiritual focus.

Bhishma narrates that Vyasa, identified as Parashara’s son, continues teaching his students and his son, and chooses to reside on the Himalayan heights—signaling a setting of seclusion and tapas where instruction and contemplation proceed.
