स्वपक्षे कारण ग्राह्मूं समये वचन हितम्‌ । शिष्टानां हि मत ग्राहां त्वद्विधै: शिष्टसम्मतै:

Transliteration

svapakṣe kāraṇa-grāhyaṃ samaye vacanaṃ hitam | śiṣṭānāṃ hi mata-grāhyaṃ tvadvidhaiḥ śiṣṭa-sammataiḥ ||

Translation

Bhīṣma nói: “Trong việc bảo vệ lập trường của mình, hãy tiếp nhận điều hợp lý; và đúng lúc, hãy nói lời có lợi. Bởi ý kiến của bậc có giáo dưỡng đáng được thâu nhận—nhất là đối với người như ngươi, vốn cũng được các bậc hiền trí tán đồng.”
