अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः
Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
न चैशि: पुण्यकर्माणो युज्यन्ते चाभिसंधिजै: । एवंविधैश्व बहुभिरपरै: प्राकृतेरपि,पुण्यकर्म करनेवाले मनुष्य इस तरहके उपायोंसे प्राण नहीं देते तथा ऐसे-ऐसे दूसरे अधम उपायोंसे भी उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होती
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
Parāśara nói: Những người chuyên tâm làm việc thiện, không kết thúc đời mình bởi những mưu kế dàn dựng, những thủ đoạn toan tính; họ cũng không bị diệt vong bởi nhiều cách hèn hạ khác phát sinh từ bản tính phàm tục của thế gian. Câu kệ nêu rõ một viễn tượng đạo đức: đời sống đặt nền trên đức hạnh không dễ bị lật đổ bởi những mưu mô nhỏ nhen và kế sách đê tiện.
